A Devastating Alternate Second World War

I'm still alive...

Just wanted to assure everyone that despite my prolonged silence I am still alive :) Just been very busy the past couple months, and haven't had my creative/writing juices flowing. I will pick up work on the next part soon

This is my first comment here.

I love this story, it is great!

Personally, I hope the Soviets get smashed and lose (this doesn't mean I hope Germany wins). I'm not pro-Nazi or anything, just that some of my family came from some of the areas the USSR persecuted and I want to see them lose.

Olefin here

Great to see you still around Bobby - much the same for me with losing my job, looking for a new job and then starting it - but with very limited computer access. Should change in a few months but for now its library only for me.

Hope to see a new part soon!

Im okay with you taking your time, I understand how hard it is to research things.

Since I can never post on the discussion board because it wont allow new members... which blows...
I'd just like to ask a question here. If anyone has heard of Operation Eisenhammer from OTL, I just recently read a book called Kommando by James Lucas about German Special Forces in WW2 and it had a detailed account of the planning for it, and it seemed that many in the German High Command were of the belief that it could have worked if the Germans had had the recources. It was basically a raid on Soviet Electric plants at Moscow and Gorky, and was believed that knocking these out could have halted soviet war production almost completely.
My Question is could something similar be attempted in Shattered World and bring about the final collapse of Soviet Russia sooner?

Thanks, Craig

PS if anything can be done about getting me on that discussion board I'd appreciate it.

I'll ask my brother about getting you added. This is something we need to get fixed. I wonder how many people have been unable to join the discussion board?

Well, I for one want to see the USSR survive and grow stronger. Like in OTL, they provided the bulkwork of troops agains the Nazi horde. 8 out 9 German troops faced the Red Army. Probably less this time around. But the huge resources of Russia have yet to be really tapped. Maybe a combined US/Soviet thrust from the East?

Olefin here

Sorry Left Atomics but the resources of the Soviet Union are totally tapped out here - they have taken huge casualties both military and civilian between the Eurasian War and the continuation here - plus starvation losses between the wars, let alone the loss of the populations of the Ukraine, Chechnya, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus and the Baltics to either conquest or joining the German side.

They have been bled white and they are down to their last reserves - and to make matters worse have burned up the last of their gasoline as well.

They will be lucky to survive until 1950 as a real credible threat to Germany.

LA,

Historically, from what I've read Stalin killed at least more than Hitler did, so in this ATL I want to see the Soviets beaten.

Folks,
I hate to be a bother, but how can I read segments 53.x.x? The links that I can see only go up to 52.x.

Thanks in advance....

Olefin here

Just a question for the board since right now the main discussion board is down - was updating my wiki on Denmark and looked thru the timeline for either the German or British occupation of the Faeroe Islands - and couldnt find it.

Did the Germans invade and take over the Faroes when they invaded Denmark? I understand Iceland and Greenland were not taken over by the Germans - which is surprising since they werent at war with the AfD at the time - but the Faroes would be a very tempting target for them.

Does anyone know if they ever invaded and occupied the Faroes?

My opinion is that the British landed there when the war started as it is close the great Britain and the British home fleet could easily deploy ship there filled with troops onboard.

From Bobby via email to me (Olefin)

No, the Germans didn't grab the Faroes. The Royal Navy sortied and pre-empted eny attempted German move there. The islands are under British control, formally under the rule of a Danish government-in-exile(A British puppet)

And with a heavy British military presence there , a radar station and who together with the Shetlands island and Iceland can form a barrier for the AFD.
