A Devastating Alternate Second World War

December 09, 2013

Hi folks, if there is anyone still out there....as should be obvious I've had a epic case of writer's block when it comes to Shattered World, for a long time now. The times I do muster up the energy to write more content it turns out as a crap and I delete it. This has happened several times.

I've moved on to other projects in the meantime and just published a new project on the Amazon kindle store...

High fantasy with some steampunk elements.   I'm aiming for fantasy with a very real-world feel to the background. I've been building the world for years, a labor of love way before I ever thought about writing narrative and publishing. Was originally gonna follow more of a Shattered World style for it but decided to keep my background notes private and instead start writing narrative in the world and try publishing a more traditional book. Its free through Friday. Reviews would be much appreciated if anyone is so inclined.
As for Shattered World, I have every intention of revisiting it and I do have chunks of the next ebook in the series written down. I'm just not happy with it at this point and its gonna need a lot of work to get into shape.

Thanks,

Sorry I don't have new Shattered World content right at the moment. I am thinking about getting back to my roots on this and going back to posting the segment updates on here.
Then later rolling up the segments into an ebook again, like I did before.

Good to hear Bobby! We all suffer from writers bloke, I've got a WW2/Cold War TL and a Rugby TL exactly the same.

Of course we're still out here. What you can, when you can. It's all good. Never give up.

Yeah Bobby, take your time and make it awesome as always. If there are issues take your time to rectify them. Anyway good luck to you.

Hello? Anyone here?

I'm still alive :) The project is obviously on a long term pause. I still intend to pick this back up but I can't honestly say when at this point. Just too busy with work, the family, etc, and pulled into different creative projects and hobbies

I am hoping for an update soon, but also wish everything is doing well for you in the same time.

I am contemplating several approaches for reviving this timeline but haven't settled on a final plan yet. I do intend to resume it but I don't have a specific ETA yet.

the timeline is dead - after Operation TumbleDown there was basically nowhere to go with the timeline - not in any realistic way to explain how the Germans somehow didnt immediately surrender. I and others argued for a rewrite to try to change it so that they stopped the Berlin strike and set up a plausible way for Germany to stay in the war but to no avail. Its too bad because the story will most likely never be finished. And there is nothing as frustrating as following a story for years and then seeing it die a quick and ignominious death due to writing yourself into a corner.
