A Devastating Alternate Second World War

Want more Shattered World?

Up until now, I've always regarded Shattered World as purely a hobby activity. I've had ads on here from time to time which often roughly covered hosting costs, but that was the extent of it. The pace of new content has slowed over the years as I've gotten busier with new jobs and whatnot. As an experiment, I've decided to try accepting donations, I've added a button on the main site to accept donations/payments via paypal or credit card.
What I plan to do is this : If donations do get made, I'll give higher priority to working on the next segment. Making it more than just a casual hobby. If donations reach the $100 mark then I'll
commit to getting the next segment out within a couple days. Then I'll start the cycle again for the next segment. If no donations come in I'll still continue as normal, as a hobby, with a new segment coming out every couple of months or so depending on my schedule. If there is enough demand then I'll start thinking more about trying to do a full book eventually.
Anyway, thoughts appreciated. Love this idea, hate it?

There you go - 10 bucks - Olefin

Wow, that was quick, thanks!

Olefin here - would still prefer that the site is free - but after that last update 10 buck is a small price to pay to see what happens next.

Count me in for 10 as well.

However, 100 bucks for one fast update looks like slim pickings to me. :p

How about if you reach the 100 mark, we get 3 or 4 rapid updates.

Rapid is relative of course, and if you have to lower the quantity to get us faster updates: let me be the first to say, not worth it.

We'll see how it goes. Maybe $50 is a better threshold.

I've already received three $10 donations, thanks!

I am thinking it is generally good idea. I will also send some money but it take little more time. It's sometimes not so easy to send money to paypal account.

Now personally I don't mind paying for Shattered world, its great and I don't mind Bobby getting well paid for it.

It is rather hefty having to pay 10$ per update though. I would rather see a system where you could pay say 1$ to get access to the story a few weeks earlier than everyone else.

Olefin here - gave 10 dollars for another update because the last one was so killer and frankly I really want to see the next one sooner - about the price of a movie and between all the discussion and banter I will get a lot more entertainment for my 10 dollars here than in most movie theaters.

As one of the lurkers who don't post in the forum but still love the timeline I've now posted 10$.

Hey, to those who have donated. Is there a $10 minimum that the system is requiring? I would prefer that people be able to donate smaller amounts if they want to, I might need to look into this.

Olefin here Bobby - no there is no minimum - I think that people may have seen that Demon and I put up 10 bucks and thought that was some kind of minimum donation.

As far as I know you can send anything on PayPal - dont think there is a minimum - and I hope people didnt think that by our postings.

Bobby said...

Ok, just wanted to make sure. People should feel free to donate any amount, there isn't a minimum

10 seemed like a nice round figure, with 10$ you only need 10 to contribute to get to the 100$

I was thinking of paying $5. I will in a bit.

Thanks very much!

The donations are up to $85 now, I'm very close to completing segment 53.1

If this is blackmail... I like it.

Wow, donations have hit $115! Thanks to everyone! It crossed the $100 level much sooner than I expected. Segment 53.1 has been close since yesterday, I'll get it out later tonight.
